Children & Adolescents.
Our psychologists are skilled at working together with children and families to develop skills and find practical solutions to a variety of developmental issues. We aim to form a partnership with your family through utilising your strengths and tailoring our interventions to support your unique goals and circumstances. We can assist your child with a variety of difficulties including anxiety, behavioural problems, academic concerns, developmental issues, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, trichotillomania, tic disorders, and relational concerns. Working with a psychologist can assist families to develop skills that will support your child’s development into a confident, well-adjusted and resilient young adult.
You are not alone; close to half of all Australians experience a mental illness during their lifetime. Our psychologists are experienced in assisting adults of all ages to achieve their therapy goals and improve their overall quality of life. Whether you have a diagnosable mental health concern or want to enhance your life skills we can assist you. Some of the difficulties that we provide therapy for include anxiety, mood difficulties, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, trichotillomania, tic disorders, physical health issues such as insomnia and life skills such as stress management and assertiveness training. Skills learnt in therapy provide long term benefits and can assist you in managing various circumstances that may arise during your lifetime.
Schools & Community.
Dr Amy Talbot & Associates strongly believes in the importance of improving mental health outcomes and increasing community awareness through the sharing of expert knowledge and skills with other professionals and the broader community. We have developed a number of professional development seminars and workshops for school staff and other community groups on topics such as supporting anxious children in the classroom and emotion coaching skills for parents and teachers. We would be happy to discuss your professional development or community education needs, whether this means using an established training package or tailoring a package to suit your specific requirements.
Many Christians prefer to seek treatment from a psychologist who has a shared faith and world-view, just as other patients may prefer to work with a psychologist of a particular gender or of a shared cultural background. Dr Amy Talbot is actively involved in her local church and is committed to the Christian faith. It is important to note that being a Christian does not necessarily change any aspect of treatment as all patients are offered treatment that has been shown in scientific studies to be effective for the difficulties they are experiencing. Dr Amy Talbot is empathic to each patient’s circumstances and is non-judgmental about their personal and spiritual beliefs and values. Patients of any religious background can be assured that they will receive the same high quality of care at Dr Amy Talbot & Associates.
